Enjoying The “Last” Weekend of Summer in Jersey City

August 28, 2019

So Labor Day may not technically be the last day of summer, but as any kid knows, nothing brings summer to an end quite like a school night. We may not have summers off anymore, but there’s still something about the last weekend in August that makes us feel like we have to get in our last summer hurrah.

While you may have been enjoying your summer all along here in Jersey city, there’s still plenty of opportunity to have a little more summer fun before the leaves start to change. You don’t have to go far from home to have fun either – here are a few Jersey City places where you can live out the last of your summer bucket list.

Barcade, located at 163 Newark Ave, Jersey City which is a five minute drive from your Lenox apartment, is a festive venue pairing classic video games with craft ales, plus familiar pub grub in an airy locale. It’s the perfect combination of childhood nostalgia and adult drinks.

The video game selection is mostly from the classic period of the early 1980’s and ranges through the early 1990’s, although there may be titles as early as 1975 and as recent as the mid-2000’s in rotation.

William Wall – There are still some tickets available to board the William Wall boat on August 31st which is anchored in the middle of the Hudson River.  This is a hidden gem in Jersey City and is the perfect activity for Labor Day weekend! The boat has a full bar and you can bring your own food.  Your ticket covers a round-trip on their Admiral’s Launch water taxi from the Manhattan Yacht Club in Jersey City to the Honorable William Wall and back.  On your way back you’ll get dropped off at Surf City, where you can end the night with a few more drinks.
