Fourth of July is around the corner, and while it’s mostly known for stars, stripes and fireworks, we can all agree that America’s favorite holiday is really just a celebration of everything summer! If you’re staying in Jersey City this Independence Day, here are a few great ways you can make the day memorable not too far from your Lenox apartment.
Planning a BBQ? You need meats! Head to Moloney’s Meat Market, located at 627 Newark Ave (which is a 10 minute drive from your Lenox apartment). This local staple was established in 1875, only 99 years after America’s first birthday! Since then, customers have come to them generation after generation for their delicious fresh-cut meats. Not much of a cook? Then head out into the city for your Fourth of July meal! Head to Surf City in Jersey City, just a ten minute drive away from Lenox and you’ll be surrounded by palm trees, sand, fire pits, music and great food. Surf City is located directly on the water with incredible views of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty and has both indoor and outdoor seating. This should be a prime spot for some NYC and JC fireworks. They also have five bars, so there won’t be any trouble finding a drink! One is even devoted exclusively to frozen tropical drinks, perfect for a hot Fourth of July.
What would the Fourth of July be without fireworks? NYC may get all the attention for their Macy’s show, but Jersey City is no amateur production! After a day of festivities beginning at noon, Jersey City’s own Akon and world-renowned rapper Pitbull will perform two separate shows, both free of charge at Jersey City’s celebration at Exchange Place Plaza (just a few minute’s walk from Lenox!)The state’s largest fireworks display, presented by Grucci, will follow the show, launching from barges on the Hudson River. You might even be able to catch the fireworks show from your Lenox window!
